Meet our Founder

Cheryl Fitzer-Attas, PhD, MBA Founder and CEO

Cheryl is a PhD/MBA pharmaceutical executive with >20 years of experience in the industry, including key global & US roles in Medical Affairs, Drug Development, and Clinical R&D leadership at start-up, large pharma, and not-for-profit organizations.  In the last decade, Cheryl expanded her focus to digital health programs such as the use of wearables in clinical research, pre-competitive consortium for development of digital tools and endpoints, authorship of key industry guidance manuscripts, and the deployment of artificial intelligence in healthcare.  At ClinMed, she provides services related to clinical and medical affairs, communications, and business development.

Cheryl is a frustrated medical cannabis patient and a persistent researcher.  After initially learning the landscape with cannabis, Cheryl pledged to bring her skill set to the industry, for example as section editor of the Journal of Cannabis Research.  This commitment also led her to found Platient Research Technologies, a company developing an on-demand digital platform for clinical research with medical cannabis.  Platient aims to close knowledge gaps while overcoming research hurdles and leveraging market realities.  Platient’s real-world studies and digital protocols reflect the uniqueness of cannabis as a medicine.  Cheryl is working with trusted advisors, collaborators, and partners to turn this ambitious project into a reality.
